Vostok

The city of Vostok is divided among three powerful families, each holding sway over a critical aspect of the city’s functioning. The Garimov family controls the mining operations on the outskirts, overseeing the coal industry and heating in the city. The Mastok family holds a firm grip on the riverport, managing the flow of goods in and out. The Petrov family exercises iron-clad control over food transports from the north, making them the most powerful of the three. These great houses’ relentless power struggles have divided the city into three distinct regions, each separated by towering walls even higher than those guarding the city from the outside. Their constant feuds and interdependence create an ongoing conflict that involves everyone. Provocations and outright attacks on rival convoys and districts have led some residents to seek protection from nefarious organizations, effectively creating a shadowy fourth entity in the city’s underground.

Amidst this discord, the city park stands as an oasis of tranquility, as it is a neutral ground where no conflicts are permitted. It features numerous evergreen trees and an age-old tavern that has existed since the city’s inception. The Temples of Gardemon and Time grace the vicinity, with the former standing near the park and the latter on the opposite side. Close to the port, a grand marketplace thrives within a colossal hall, boasting multiple levels teeming with goods. Due to the frequent attacks orchestrated by the rival families, this market has become one of the most secure places in the city, with many safety precautions put in place by merchants who learnt their lesson the hard way. Inside of the city walls there are many underground walkways connecting the homes underground. While most are just below the surface, many much older tunnels dig much deeper. Situated approximately a mile to the east of the city is the Academy of Vostok, distinguished by its imposing tower piercing the sky. Here, mages don more militaristic uniforms while honing their magical skills.

If there’s one thing that sets this city apart, it’s the unparalleled skill of its blacksmiths. Many royals from distant lands journey here to procure their equipment, as the smiths of Vostok are renowned for their craftsmanship and are known to be unyielding in their commitment to their craft.
