Laravi
This magnificent city proudly stands in a vast oasis concealed deep in the desert mesa. If someone were to travel the desert’s surface, they would only spot a couple of tall towers suspiciously protruding from the sand. Yet, upon closer viewing, a slot canyon would come into view amidst the rock. Within this opening, a magical gate prevents the sand from entering the city.
At the mouth of the canyon, a gate guarded on both sides by large stone statues of snake-folk serves as the city’s entrance. Numerous structures grace the desert level, with some boldly emerging from the rocky side. Structures here are bare and strictly functional. Across most of the mesa’s summit stands the Pallas complex of Zara Nafisar, accompanied by a neighboring blimp port. Substantial portions of the Laravi city remain concealed beneath the sand, with much of this space repurposed from ancient ruins predating its existence.
Below the surface, in the subterranean section nestled within solid rock, we encounter the bustling bazaar where local spices, firearms, jewelry, and alcohol are sold. Adjacent lies a lush oasis, boasting a flourishing date garden with a large opening in the ceiling supported with numerous ancient and surprisingly thin columns. Meanwhile, in the manufacturing district, magical crystals perpetually shine bringing light to the dry underground. The city’s brewers make a local delicacy, a unique tincture from dates, which is later blessed by the local church’s priests. This elixir is renowned for its supposed ability to mend broken hearts and facilitate new connections. Moreover, it is here where gem experts of all kinds work with the most expensive materials making precise parts for hex machinery and soon to be artifacts. Beneath it all lies a mine, its depths accessible to only a select few.
