Omati
The biggest city of Kambala, Omati (also known as the Big Home), is situated in the vicinity of the Maruki River. The scattered rock formations provide excellent foundations for homes, with ground-level spaces filled with an array of rooftops constructed from diverse materials. Atop these rocks, multi-story buildings are connected by numerous bridges. The elevated walkways vary from ropes and planks in the poorer areas to impressive stone structures in the affluent ones. Walking on the rooftops is a common practice embraced by everyone. The ground floor is not exclusively a slum; beggars are evenly distributed throughout the city. The population is mixed at ground level, while the wealthier inhabitants reside on the rocks. The ground level accommodates buildings up to three stories high, with roads shielded from sunlight and illuminated by a multitude of crystals.
A few notable landmarks grace the city, including the white towers perched on the largest rocks, the Temple of Elements known as the Patakatifu, the vast underground Grand Bazaar reminiscent of a colosseum, and the city port featuring one of two swing bridges that can be moved when necessary. Employment in Omati spans numerous sectors, as no single industry dominates the city. Carpentry, weaving, farming, masonry, jewelry making, and various other professions can be found, although this diversity often yields a majority of average practitioners, with few true specialists. Many Omati residents look for a home far beyond the city, making them a common sight in peculiar places across Misteria. Near the city, a small Artifex settlement known as the Metal City houses many of these sentient machines and as one of few places offers a glimpse into their organised living.
