Follaje
The Votny Forest, on the western side of the mountains, is a region teeming with unique plant life. This dense forest is so overgrown that it becomes nearly impassable, affecting both travelers and the native wildlife. bogslithers, some venomous and others not, coexist with eruca and jay eagles within this lush expanse. Rottmosses, firefly bushes, and hovershrooms are among the distinctive flora that flourish here.
The city called Follaje is nestled within this verdant growth and exudes a primeval atmosphere. Many of the stones used in constructing the city, especially in the older parts, were sourced from the ancient ruins on which the city stands. This blending of ancient motifs with contemporary elements imparts an otherworldly aesthetic to the urban landscape.
Follaje’s academy, though relatively small, is hidden within the ruins to the east of the city, making it discreet and known only to the informed. The city square features an ancient statue at its center, a monument that nobody dares to move. Below the city, a network of tunnels known as the catacombs serves as basements for some. Legends tell of these catacombs being filled with otherworldly creatures awaiting the opportunity to resurface, although this may be a tale spun to deter children from exploring them.
Superstitions hold sway among the city’s inhabitants, and those who dare to go against them often face punishment, by folk and by reality. Some individuals journey to Follaje in search of its unique regional plants and herbs, which can fetch a fortune if sold beyond the Midland Mountains. However, many prefer to bypass the inconvenience of harvesting these plants themselves and instead purchase them at nearby ports.
