Wolfhounds (Caninebular nocturnus)

The wolfhounds are mysterious and menacing creatures, always black in color, and they hunt in packs under the cover of night. Their swiftness and stealth make them formidable predators, often launching silent and undetected attacks. What sets them apart is their feeding behavior – they don’t consume meat like many other creatures but instead extract the energy from their prey. The tales of wolfhounds have become a part of Misteria folklore, and children are taught to fear them for good reason.

These creatures are migrating and don’t have a specific habitat. Mysterious and elusive, they appear after the mists, making it advisable not to venture out too early when the mist have perished. They are particularly troublesome in the Mebelands, where they have left a lasting impact on the local culture, even becoming a symbol on their coat of arms.

Appearance: These slender creatures resemble dogs but are much longer, and have a distinct and menacing appearance. They are always black in color and sport short, matte fur. Their long heads are equipped with many sharp teeth, and their 3 eyes lack pupils, appearing as if they have leukoma. Unlike wolves, they have paws without claws, and their limbs are longer, giving them a unique and eerie presence. They are noiseless and appear to leave a black sooty trail behind.
