Spidermonkeys (Araneasimia)
Spidermonkeys are one of the most disliked creatures that inhabit mountainous regions and underground environments across the continent. They have earned their name due to their remarkable ability to weave webs that are highly effective immobilization traps, capable of ensnaring even wolves. Their hunting prowess extends to creatures of similar size, making them formidable opportunistic hunters.
One of the most striking behaviors of spidermonkeys is their aggression towards intruders near their nests. They are known to attack individuals who venture too close, often leaping down from the ceiling to pin down their adversaries. This boldness, combined with their physical attributes, makes them fear very little in their habitat.
In the old mines that can be found scattered throughout the continent, spidermonkeys create spherical cocoons to serve as their nests. Each of these structures can house from 3 to 7 individuals, with the largest one assuming a leadership role within the group. Notably, spidermonkeys are not venomous. Instead, they use their powerful arms to rend their victims apart before consuming them.
Their web-weaving abilities serve a dual purpose. In addition to immobilizing prey, the web is also used to preserve captured food for later consumption. By isolating it from the surrounding air, the web prevents decay, allowing spidermonkeys to maintain a food source for longer.
Appearance: Spider monkeys are a unique blend of arachnids and primates, possessing 8 long legs with hand-like appendages at their ends, along with a cephalothorax housing a monkey’s head. They typically reach heights of up to 7 feet (2 meters), although larger specimens have been documented. Their upper bodies are covered with short, stiff fur, typically blueish in color, while their lower regions feature protective chitin armor. The thorax, relatively smaller compared to the rest of their bodies, produces webbing at a sluggish pace.

- Capture – The creature lunges at its target, attempting to immobilize it. If it successfully lands the attack, it gains a +3 bonus to its Athletics check against the target. While holding a target, the capturing creature is considered immobile but can still make regular attacks against other foes. The pinned creature can only try to break free from the capture.
