Drakodyles (Dracrodylus waternicus)
In the vast wetlands of Waternia, few creatures pose as significant a threat as the drakodyles, as they not only are common within the region but also serve as one of its apex predators. They are slow-moving carnivores of imposing size that silently navigate the waters in search of their next meal. They are known to pursue prey relentlessly for hours and then strike in one swoop, killing their target. While most of them are small and only hunt for easy prey, the biggest specimens are known to sink boats, splitting them in half. Some experienced sailors and fishermen know how to spot them by subtle water patterns, but that is a challenging skill to master. Folks from native tribes of Waternia are famous for mounting them, akin to how the Beastly tribes ride finned crocodiles on Crocodile Island.
Appearance: They resemble a salamander with elongated, snappy jaws that they use to kill. They range from small, foot-long (30 centimeters), fish-sized creatures to reaching whopping 20-foot (7 meters), boat-breaking monsters. Their body is elongated and has a strong tail with fins propelling it forward and one bigger fin on the back that stabilizes them. Their appendages don’t have claws, but those are not necessary as they usually eat their prey whole.

Skills: Stealth +3, Athletics +4, Perception +2, Resistance +2
Abilities:
- 2A Snap – When a drakodyle attacks they will jump onto their enemy head first with their mouths wide open. If this attack lands, it deals 2D10 damage that prices through armor. After that they will retrieve and try again or run away.
- Fear – Due to their imposing size and unsettling appearance, the creature often strikes fear into the hearts of those encountering them, particularly for the first time. All adversaries facing them must make a Bravery check with a difficulty of 8. Should they fail, they become immobilized, able to perform only Bravery checks until they successfully overcome their fear or are compelled to flee from the terrifying presence of the creature.
