Karagor

The capital of Astoria stands boldly on the cliff overlooking the lake. The Temple of Gardemon proudly graces the city’s center and is one of the largest structures in the region, with the Black Palace jutting out from the cliffside and the Great Academy situated lower, behind the city walls. All mages wishing to enter the city must adhere to strict regulations, including the prohibition of carrying any artifacts or hex machinery that might interfere with mechanical devices. This has led magical practitioners to establish a small enclave near the academy and outside the city walls, called the “Magic City” or locally “Karamagor”.

Within the city, you’ll find a renowned school of mechanical wonders located in the craft district. Here, esteemed masters share their knowledge, fostering advancements in casting, smithing, engineering, and machining. The commercial district runs through the heart of the city along the main road, offering a multitude of exquisite shops that adorn the thoroughfare. The architectural styles and materials used in these shops are diverse, offering a cross-section of styles from the southern continent. Many of these establishments are operated by foreigners, providing exotic goods and technologies. Local engineers offer a range of products, from everyday household appliances to deadly inventions, including a plethora of firearms.

A select few workshops within the city craft blimps, although these airships are typically reserved for the wealthiest clients. Culturally, the population of this city and the entire Kingdom of Astoria is diverse, as it hosts numerous Virdis and Beastly from distant lands, who run workshops and even a small community of Artifex residing in the Magic City, some of which are not allowed entry into the main city. Architecturally, the buildings often have an industrious appearance, with pipes and gears protruding, and gas lamps lighting up the main streets. Conversely, the Magic City is a realm of hex machinery and the luminous glow of crystals illuminating its surroundings.
