Staroport
Deriving its name from the local language, the city of Staroport is perhaps the oldest port on the continent. Nestled at the end of Hound’s Bay on the calm shore, this northern port of Morozia serves as a crucial point for shipping goods between Morozia and the north of Misteria. Along the shoreline, there is a port area consisting of two distinct parts: one designated for cargo and the other for people.
The cargo portion is primarily constructed from stone, featuring bridges made of solid rock slabs adorned with carvings that have long become overgrown with seaweed. In contrast, the public side, where travelers disembark, is lavishly decorated with ancient motifs and inscriptions that few can decipher. Travelers
Beyond the port, the city appears to stretch endlessly. Streets illuminated by numerous low-hanging crystals give the impression of constant crowding. Most of the buildings in Staroport have no more than two floors, resulting in a relatively flat cityscape. The tallest structures in the city are dedicated to the gods, and they can be seen from a distance. The main Temple of Gardemon, along with five smaller temples scattered throughout the city, rises high above the cityscape. These temples often have distinctive towers that serve as landmarks, making navigation through the city surprisingly easy.
Locals generally divide Staroport into three areas. First is the small Upper City, featuring the public port and a commercial district with beautifully adorned streets and shops catering to travelers. Their catalogs are generally considered too luxurious for poorer citizens who don’t have much disposable income. The largest section is the Lower City, comprising slums, the cargo port, workshops, and the main square. This area is where the majority of the city’s population resides. It’s also where you can find numerous blacksmiths and smelting facilities that work to transform raw ore into more practical materials or finished goods. However, the quality of these products is often considered subpar for the region. Lastly, there’s the aristocratic district situated behind imposing gates. It covers only a few acres, and only those with permits are allowed to enter. Travelers wishing to access this exclusive area must weather be lead in or present an invitation. Around 100 families reside there, with the royal family at the top of the hierarchy.
