Swamps of Waternia

Ships carrying goods traveling along the Munam River from the Mountains of Eldor eventually reach the treacherous swamps of Waternia. As they venture through this tangled and murky wetland, those who successfully navigate it will eventually arrive in the city of Bogmoor. This region’s darker green foliage conceals Dire sprites, Dileblod leeches, and aquatic creatures like Drakodyles and Bogslithers. Gnarled willows, rottmos, and bald cypresses are abundant, with many smaller creatures making their homes among them.

The landscape in this rather unwelcoming wetland consists mostly of water, with little solid ground to be found. Patches of dry earth and small forests are sparsely scattered throughout, breaking up the monotony of endless wetland. Somewhat often while sailing through the swamps one could see the guidepoles poking out of the water. While many of them show the right ways, bandits and local thugs use them to lead merchants to ambush locations. There are some swamp tribes that call this unwelcome place home, some living on straw boats called Uru, making small floating settlements, while others have bigger villages located inside the scarce forest patches.
