Brindewick and Hedenholm

Brindewick and Hedenholm, situated on the edge of the Sea of Fog, serve as the primary mistports and house hoverstations, from which hovercarts start their journeys across the sea.

Brindewick, the larger of the two cities, boasts architecture more akin to Verdalia than the traditional Mebelands decorations of heraldic kind. It is perched on a slope that gradually descends into the sea, with many structures built on wooden pilings, rising above the mist’s surface.

In contrast, Hedenholm is placed upon a cliff, with an aqueduct entering it significantly below the land’s edge. Here, a multitude of homes and windows protrude from the cliff’s side, while the grand port tower hoists goods from the mistport to the summit. The ancient hovercart station, marking the east end of its journey, retains its age-old splendor. The entrance to the hoverstation resembles a face that swallows the arriving train. Atop the cliff, the White Palace doubles as a lighthouse and further down the city one could find black stone castle, housing the mint of Mebelands.

Compared to Hedenholm, Brindewick may appear as a haphazardly placed, unsightly shack on the opposite edge. Most of its buildings present as fragile, almost filigree, supported by a tangle of pilings that seem to prop up the slender structures. Interconnected by an intricate network of suspended bridges and latters, these buildings give the impression of a perpetual work-in-progress, resembling a temporary structure that was never quite completed. For miles around, buildings poke out like isolated islands in an archipelago. The deeper part of the city, especially around the main road, is more developed and resembles a conventional city.
