Bartan

The southernmost city of Verdalia extends into the meadow, nearly reaching the Sea of Fog. Situated west of the Suran River, it maintains a high degree of independence. The city’s buildings are primarily constructed from rocks, appearing as if they are held together by the plant growth, lending them a rugged appearance. Initially established as a roadhouse, it later evolved into a stronghold, eventually expanding into a full-fledged city. The old inn, a proud relic, stands at its heart. Four main roads encircle the central district, giving the city its checkerboard layout. Approximately two thousands of permanent residents call this place home, with another thousand residing intermittently. Buildings along the main roads can reach up to four stories in height, gradually diminishing in size as one moves away from the city center.

The main square, spans no more than 40 by 40 feet (13 x 13 m). Many buildings in this area overhang the walkways, with notable structures including the old inn, the town hall, and a public bathhouse. This city has become a haven for traveling musicians who journey across Misteria, either to repair their instruments or acquire new ones. Workshops specializing in the production and repair of wooden instruments are abundant here, contributing to the continuous musical ambiance that infuses this otherwise gray landscape with vitality and energy. On the riverbank, a small port sticks out from the city’s edge, featuring a ferryboat that transports passengers across the river daily. The opposite side of the river is home to a modest settlement comprising no more than 30 buildings, housing fishermen and farmers who provide for the city’s needs. From there the road leads to Brindewick
