Karu
The City of a Thousand Colors is undeniably one of the most vibrant places on the entire Misteria. This city is home to the healing springs, hidden deep within an enormous cave, that serve as the source of the Suran River. Not far beyond, roughly two miles downstream, the river widens enough to carry cargo ships. It is overseen by earth mages, who make sure the river’s channel is properly maintained. The bustling port, which never sleeps, features a historic landmark in the form of a wooden crane tower. All trade heading from Serandu southward must pass through this port, as there is no other continental route. Meticulously tended gardens throughout the city burst with vibrant and colorful flowers that can also be found in the nearby forest.
The city’s architectural character, mostly shaped by the Virdis, is characterized by homes gracefully embedded into trees of various sizes and shapes, some of which contribute their own blossoms to the landscape. The city has a substantial population of herbalists and alchemists who thrive on passing trade, making potions one of its main exports, with wines and meads following closely. While there are regional weaving and dyeing workshops, their production primarily caters to local demands and their goods are reluctantly sold to the merchants. The springs, famed for their healing properties, draw numerous visitors, particularly the rich travelers, who visit in hopes of restoration and recovery. These springs are famous throughout Misteria for their remarkable healing effects.
