Jungle of Zatara

Home to danger and magic, a place suspended in time. The depths of Zatara Jungle are home to many creatures such as bramblesnaps, zephirs, and spumers, while those closer to the river live green boars, long leafed vultures, and zambi birds, all posing threats to both locals and other animals. The flora is equally dangerous, as gigantic snaptraps, snakevines, and paradise flowers claim hundreds of lives. Safety is a relative concept, with only the cities offering some security, as the roads and jungle teem with carnivores, hunting unsuspecting travelers. To the north of the jungle, beyond the river, lie the Black Lands, where densely intertwined trees block out the sun. The creatures that call this eerie realm home, serve as the subjects of both fairy tales and nightmares among the locals. No one travels to Black Lands, as venturing into this region is considered to be a death sentence. Long ago, there was a civilization that called the land beyond the river their home, but they are gone now. Only some tribes hidden deep in the jungle are known to still exist, their presence occasionally betrayed by the wisps of smoke rising above the treeline.
