The Orange Desert

Endless dunes are home to many creatures like desert gilders, sand walkers, fog sliders, and festuses, as well as plants such as sand puffers, nimbus blooms, and spellweavers cotton. Most of these inhabitants do not follow the typical day and night cycle; instead, they synchronize with the foggy storms that sweep across the desert almost  weekly.

While journeying through the desert, whether during the day or night, few animals and plants can be spotted. Plants bury themselves in the sand, and most animals sleep, only venturing out during night or in the fog. The majority of life forms derive their nutrients from glimmer that mixes with the sand. Although the desert might appear lifeless and barren, the arrival of the inevitable fog storm changes that perception. During such storms, with all creatures (mistoborn and local) bustling around, solitude becomes a sought-after rarity.

Notably, there are Nomads who reside in the desert and harness the power to travel with the mist storms. However, these isolated tribes rarely visit cities, preferring to stay within their desert domains. Their traditional lifestyle demands extensive hunting for survival and it is a rite of passage to adulthood. They place little value on trophies and often they gather what is left of their prey for sale. These items consist of horns, bones, skin, and organs of mistborn creatures. Mages, potion makers, and hex artisans frequently incorporate them into their work due to their high quality and potency. Folk in need of those materials are willing to pay any price to acquire them which nomads accept only in trade.
