Black viper (Serpensnebular lunaticus)

Commonly referred to as moon snakes, these creatures inhabit misty, dark forests and primarily hunt during the day, as their camouflage is less effective at night. They possess luminescent patches on their skin that only shine under the moonlight. This unique trait makes their skin a highly sought-after luxury commodity, mostly for mages and alchemists. Catching them is no easy feat, as their venom can be deadly even in small doses. Furthermore, their high intelligence allows them to choose their battles wisely, ensuring their survival in the wild. Those unfortunate enough to be bitten by black vipers do not always meet their demise, as antidotes are relatively common in the area where they reside, albeit for the right price.

Appearance: Adult males of these creatures measure approximately 7 feet (2.5 meter) in length and are no thicker than a man’s arm. They belong to the mistborn Serpensnebular family, which explains their notably muscular build. Their skin is adorned with scales that exhibit a stunning opalescent sheen when exposed to moonlight. Their heads are only slightly larger than the thickest part of their bodies, with striking white eyes that feature many green, purple or blue irises.

  • Venomous bite – Whenever an attack inflicts damage, it also introduces a poisonous effect to the target. The afflicted individual must make a Decay Resistance check with a difficulty of 7. Should any of these checks be unsuccessful, they will lose 1 maximum Life point per hour until they obtain an antidote.
