Blackhole owls are nocturnal predators that command both fear and respect in the darkness of the Misterias’ night. Their presence is marked by their distinctive and haunting hooting, which carries across vast distances due to its deep and resonant tone. When blackhole owls commence their eerie calls, most animals fall silent, recognizing the imminent threat.

These wild owls are known for their boldness and ferocity. They are fearless and have been known to attack convoys and groups with relentless power. During their assaults, they display remarkable strength, often tearing apart the planks of carts and, in some instances even reaping engines out the entire engines.

One of the most extraordinary features of blackhole owls is their near-silent flight. Their ruffled feathers muffle the sound of their wingbeats, making them virtually undetectable when airborne. This stealthy attribute allows them to approach their prey or potential adversaries without warning.

Additionally, blackhole owls possess the ability to heal. Whether through magic or other means, they can endure multiple wounds in battle before finally retreating when close to falling. This resilience has only added to their reputation as formidable and enigmatic creatures.

Appearance: These creatures reach heights of up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) when standing and have an impressive wingspan of 12 feet (3.6 meters). Their bodies are shaped like elongated eggs, featuring a head that can rotate almost 360 degrees. Their tough feathers exhibit white and gray hues across the body, while the face displays alternating colors in spirals with a central black patch resembling a hole. Their face is marked by black eyes and a long beak with a sharp tip. The reason for their unique coloring remains a mystery, as it serves no apparent purpose. Their legs are armed with long talons, which they employ to snatch and grip their prey.

Abilities:

  • 2A Dive – After landing the first hit undetected, the creature might attempt to grasp an opponent. If it manages to succeed in an Athletics check, it will seize the enemy and take flight, carrying them into the air. Regardless of the Athletics check, the target receives D10 + Body damage. Then the creature will release the captured foe, causing them to plummet to the ground nearby, inflicting additional 2D10 damage upon the victim.
  • Regeneration – The creature can cast healing Spell (free action, 6 Magic points, D10 + Mag Life points).
  • Glimmering swoosh – Once a turn the creature can cast a Glimmering woosh (V, 7 magic points) to deal D8 + Mag damage to all creatures in close range.
