Midland eagle (Harpia occidentalis

The midland eagle is one of the most imposing birds of prey on the continent. Revered by heraldists for their majestic presence but often loathed by shepherds, these creatures occupy a distinct place in the ecosystem.

Known for their intelligence, midland eagles typically target small to medium-sized animals, including dogs, goats, and sheep. One of their most remarkable hunting techniques involves swooping down from great altitudes to snatch the pray and dropping it down on the ground. This tactic allows them to immobilize and ultimately capture their quarry.

Midland Eagles can be found in the northern regions of the Wild Lands and throughout the expansive Midland Mountains. Their immense wingspan, which grants them impressive aerial mobility, makes them highly visible both in the sky and through the shadows they cast on the ground.

Appearance: This impressive creature stands at a height of 5 feet (1.5 meters) and boasts an expansive wingspan of nearly 15 feet (4.5 meters), making it one of the larger birds on the southern continent. It features formidable yellow hooked beaks and eyes that possess remarkable prey-spotting abilities, capable of detecting quarries from miles away. Their bodies are robust, with massive wings and legs equipped with talons as sharp as knives. While they are typically brown in color, variations can range from black to white, with most of the diversity manifesting in the wings and legs.
