Boars (Sus

The boar is a wild pig, known for its sturdy build and impressive tusks. With a coarse coat of fur and a keen sense of smell, the boar is a skilled forager, seeking food in diverse habitats. Its tusks are used for defense and can be a symbol of strength and resilience. Resourceful creature and an unpleasant one to meet in the wild.

Common boar (Sus scrofa

The common boar is a widely distributed inhabitant of dense forests spanning the entire continent, frequently encountered in small, familial groups. These herbivores sustain themselves on a diet that includes various plants, mushrooms, and truffles. Their adept foraging abilities have led to some cases of domestication, where they are valued for their exceptional truffle-finding skills.

Despite their importance in some cultures, the majority of common boars face the constant threat of being hunted for food or sport. This ongoing threat often renders them aggressive toward sentient species, making encounters with these formidable creatures potentially perilous.

The unique specimens of the Sus family, known as the green boar, exhibit distinct characteristics that set them apart. Their most striking features include the remarkable coloration of their hides, the exceptionally thick skin, and the notably long hair that adorns their crests.

These boars are generally less aggressive towards Humans compared to other members of their family, although it’s important to note a caveat – when cornered, they will resort to defensive attacks. Their omnivorous nature allows them to have a diverse diet, encompassing both plant matter and meat, highlighting their adaptability as opportunistic feeders.

Regrettably, green boars often become targets of poaching activities due to the exceptional toughness of their skin. This skin is highly prized for crafting armor, thanks to its remarkable durability and availability.

Appearance: Green boars are about 3 feet (90 cm) tall and 4 feet (1.2 m) long with surprisingly thick fur and even thicker skin. Male hogs have long tusks that poke out of their mouths. They are generally bigger and heavier than sows, reaching up to 1000 pounds (450 kg).
