Verdalia

Regional merchandise: wax, honey, potions, wood, wine, instruments.

The lush green expanses of Land of Verdalia are largely known to be the land of Virdis, and it’s a rite of passage for them to visit the great forest at least once in their lives. As we journey through Verdalia, leaving the city of Serandu behind and heading south into the Nasara Forest, we come upon Karu, the northernmost city in this land. Nestled against the mountains at the source of the Suran River, this vibrant city marks a vital point along the trade route.

Continuing along the Suran River deeper into the forest, we encounter smaller cities like Varten, Rason, and Dason, eventually reaching the capital of the entire land, the City of Kartony. As we move southeastward, the river widens, leading us through the City of Parytus and the smaller city of Suso before exiting the forest and entering Bartan.

From Bartan, we can only venture into the Mebeland and its perpetual fog. A significant portion of Verdalia’s economy is sustained by the smaller cities of Rason, Dason, and Parytus, known for their fields that yield grapes, wheat, and herbs. Beehives line the forest’s edge, producing the honey and wax for which Verdalia is renowned.

The serene and gentle nature of the Virdis is prevalent throughout Verdalia. They are known for their kindness, avoiding unpleasantness and conflict whenever possible. This behaviour garners them both admiration and contempt, as some find it endearing, while others consider it a weakness, particularly those in neighboring Wild Lands.

Much like the Zatara Jungle, Verdalia is predominantly inhabited by Virdis. Although once a kingdom of their own, Virdis have now blended with various other races, with plant folk still forming the majority. Throughout the forest, we can discover clumps of ancient Virdis, some hidden deep within the woods, standing in their eternal slumber. These old Virdis are so abundant here that one can hardly walk for five minutes without encountering one.

Many city-dwelling Virdis are skilled builders, shaping trees into homes and other structures. Surprisingly, there are only few Beastly inhabitants, as most born here eventually depart, sometimes taking their entire tribe with them. Those who remain are often merchants, priests, or mercenaries. The Human population is comparable to the Virdis, with many working in cities or tending to the fields. Human tribes with their unique culture and settlements exist within the forest, but they remain concealed and elusive. These tribes are believed to have closer ties to northern Mebelands, visiting them more frequently than the cities of Verdalia.

The Artifex are a rare sight on the streets, preferring to remain in isolation. Those who do reside here are renowned for their craftsmanship, with some achieving mastery in their respective fields. One such master, known as Gunpowder, operates the Gunpowder’s Work & Shop. He is known to be one of the continent’s finest gunsmiths, offering a range of unique guns, both gunpowder and hex-powered.
